Camping.
The Committee has looked at camping on site closely and is concerned with liability at the Showgrounds. The fenced 5 acre Riverside Tourism Park is a much better and safer option ($8/person/night unpowered site) that gives you access to showers, toilets, shady trees and even a pool. www.islandcabins.com.au/rockhampton Most patrons end up in the town centre anyway and the Park is only a 5 minute walk over the bridge. Patrons that have stayed there have had a great time. Managers Mark and Nicole have looked after everybody that stay. The more the merrier. There are also powered sites and cabins available.
Motels and Hotels.
The Committee is reluctant to recommend places because they tend to change hands. The Capricorn Tourism tries to keep an eye on this for us so give them a call on their 7 day booking service on (freecall) 1800 676 701 to see what is available. They also have a website http://www.capricornholidays.com.au/ that is worth looking at with locations etc.
Our patrons have also had good deals with Wotif , Quickbeds and Last Minute.
